Many of the people that have been buzzing about the upcoming Oculus Rift have wondered if it will work on their mobile devices, and that is somewhat of a touchy subject right now. While it seems the Oculus Rift will work on a few different types of mobile devices, it is not currently supporting all of them. The second version of the Oculus Rift Development kit is planned for the middle of January, and it doesn’t seem that as of now it will work on all mobile devices.

What to Expect From the Dev Kit Version

If you were to get your hands on a Dev Kit version of the Oculus Rift, you will find that there are a few tweaks that need to be made. The screen resolution needed some work, and it also needed some work when it came to the motion sensors; however, those are all things that they have worked out before the production of the final product that will be sold to the general public. But, what about mobile compatibility for Oculus Rift? We still don’t have a solid answer to our question.

Mobile Compatibility for Oculus Rift is Important

Oculus VR doesn’t want mobile gamers to feel left out. They understand the importance of mobile compatibility, and they are going to work toward it. According to Palmer Luckey, “The company is internally working on mobile support for the Rift.” While it may not be the best for just casual mobile games, it is great for virtual reality games. If they could get it to work with mobile device hardware, it can really enhance the virtual reality experience, and will forever change the gaming industry.

How it Relates to Android

Android is probably the platform that will be able to benefit the most from the Oculus Rift. In fact, the Rift will already work on some of the Android devices- those that have a video output and are able to host the Rift using USB connections. There are a few mobile devices that meet these requirements, but over time they do think that they will be able to make even more advancements. In fact, the Rift could eventually become an Android device that supports the Android market. How amazing would that be?

What’s Next for the Rift?

Now, let’s take a closer look at what is next for the Oculus Rift. Even though they made groundbreaking news when they announced the Rift, Oculus VR doesn’t want to stop there. They will continue to grow and expand until they are satisfied, which probably won’t ever happen because technology continues to improve from day to day. It seems that the next thing on their agenda is to simply get the Oculus Rift put out there on the market. Once they do this, they will be able to get a lot more feedback about changes that could be made to improve it and make it a better user experience.
