Oculus has announced that it is adding Google Chromecast support to the Samsung Gear VR headset, which makes it easier for users to share their virtual reality experience inside the Gear VR with friends by streaming it to a TV.

To get started streaming from your Gear VR headset to your TV in real-time you need to make sure you download the latest version of both the Oculus mobile app and Android. Once you’ve done that, then you just simply tap on the Cast button to select your nearby Cast-enabled device and put on your headset while your friends in the room watch and enjoy what you’re doing in VR.

Although the people viewing a stream through a TV will not get the sense of immersion and presence that virtual reality delivers, it does, however, offer a new and much-welcomed social element to mobile VR, allowing everyone in the room to share in the excitement together.

By Oculus adding Chromecast support, not only can you share and enjoy your VR experience with others around you, but also help introduce new users to the VR experience, since you’ll be able to see what they see inside the headset. This is definitely a useful feature that will come in handy the next time you feel like hosting a VR party or just demoing the hardware to friends and family.
