Oculus VR Announces 'Connect 2' Registration Now Open
Oculus has just announced that registration for its second annual developer conference, Oculus Connect 2, is now officially open.
This year, Connect 2 is expected to bring together more than 1,500 of the industries top developers, engineers, and creators from around the world working on virtual reality. The event is set to take place on September 23-25th at the Loews Hotel in Hollywood, CA, and will feature keynotes from Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe, Chief Scientist Michael Abrash, and CTO John Carmack.
Early-bird registration starts at $495 and will increase to its regular rate of $695 on-site for attendees. A limited number of $95 passes will also be available to indie VR developers and students.
According to Oculus, submissions are also being accepted for guest speakers that want to share their work and experiences with the community, particularly within the following areas:
- VR Engineering – These talks will cover technical details of developing for PC and mobile platforms, including best practices for optimizing performance, minimizing latency, and mastering advanced rendering techniques.
- Game and App Design – These talks will focus on design and development principles for creating new VR games, apps, and experiences that are innovative, immersive, and fun.
- Cinematic VR – These talks will share lessons around combining elements of traditional film, games, theatre, and performance art to create unique VR experiences that place the audience inside the story and virtual world.
The deadline for speaker submissions is August 3rd, and a notification will be sent via email by Oculus in August on whether a talk has been approved for the event.
