Oculus has been preparing for the upcoming premiere of its second VR film project, Henry, created by its own in-house VR film division, Oculus Story Studio.

The company revealed the animated short film will debut on July 28th, and has already began ramping up its promotional efforts with a rather warm, and fuzzy campaign entitled ‘8 Days of Henry’ as it leads up to the big premiere event that is set to take place in Los Angeles, California.

Henry is a tale of a lovable hedgehog who simply enjoys hugging people, yet sadly anyone that gets close to him is scared away by his pointy spikes. The story takes place in Henry’s home on his lonely birthday, where all he wishes for are some friends to come celebrate and share the special day with him.

Earlier this year, Oculus Story Studio released its first VR film, Lost, directed by creative director and former Pixar animator Saschka Unseld. The short 4-minute film was well received and gave viewers a glimpse into the potential of cinematic VR storytelling. With the upcoming debut of Henry, the team at Oculus Story Studio is looking to deliver an even greater, and more immersive experience that will hopefully capture the imagination, and heart’s of its audience.

Stay tuned for more exciting details on Henry and Oculus Story Studio, as we get closer to the upcoming premiere.
