Matt Hooper was actually a former creative director for id Software. He had been with them for 11 years as of February, and according to GameFront.com, has recently been hired by Oculus VR to help with the production of their new device – the Oculus Rift.

The Move from id Software to Oculus VR

Hooper was with id Software for 11 years and was one of the chief designers that played a role in developing and designing Doom 3, and also helped with the expansion of the Resurrection of Evil game. In 2012, there were a few leaked screenshots from the game Doom 4, which is supposed to be one of the first games to be compatible with the Oculus Rift headset. He was brought onto the Oculus VR team to be their director of development.

Hooper Has a Lot on His Plate

Hooper isn’t limiting his work to just the Oculus Rift. He is also doing work for id Software and Armadillo Aerospace, although the majority of his time is devoted to Oculus VR, and he is prioritizing them in the order of their importance to him. With that being said, it is easy to see that he has a whole lot on his plate for the upcoming months, especially with the high-expectations the Oculus Rift has been generating in the media.

What Does The Oculus Team Think to Have Hooper On Board?

So, is Oculus happy to have Hooper on board with them? It would seem that they are ecstatic about it! Oculus representatives stated: “We are thrilled to have Matt Hooper join the Oculus VR team as our Director of Development. Hooper will be working out of the Dallas, TX office. He’s a top talent who had been out of id for a few months and ended up being a great fit for the Oculus team. We’re looking for more all-stars!”

It goes to show that they continue to look for the best talent when it comes to video gaming, and this is because they want their product to be a leader in the industry. Since it will change the way that people play video games completely, it is easy to see that they would only want to hire the very best.

As you can see, Oculus VR is definitely lucky to have someone like Matt Hooper on their team. It is sure to be something that is going to give them that added boost to ensure that their product is developed with the highest quality standards in mind. If you are a gaming enthusiast, then you are sure to find the Oculus Rift to be a challenging and fun experience that you will enjoy. Most people that have already tried it have had nothing but positive reviews, and there have even been some updates made to the version that will be introduced to the general public in mid-January.
