Samsung's New Gear VR Commercial is Simple, and Effective

With Samsung’s Gear VR, powered by Oculus hitting the shelves last week, a new commercial to promote the headset was released over the weekend and offers consumers a glimpse into the hardware, and future of mobile VR entertainment.

The 30-second commercial is cleverly done and showcases how simple it is for a user to clip in a Galaxy smartphone—such as the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, and Galaxy Note 5 to the Gear VR headset, and dive right into a virtual reality experience.

For many, this will be the first time they see a consumer-focused VR headset targeted to them, and Samsung does a pretty good job at introducing the promise of VR as a fresh, and immersive way to enjoy the kind of content that everyone loves. And while it can be challenging to describe the feeling of virtual reality, and capture that sense of immersion through just words or video, hopefully, the simplistic approach of Samsung’s commercial will entice people to want to try it, and discover what all the excitement is about for themselves.

Virtual reality has come a long way over the last few years, but it’s still going to take some time before the technology becomes part of our everyday lives. One thing is for sure, VR definitely appears to be heading in the right direction. The Gear VR has already been selling out quickly among major retailers like Amazon, and Best Buy.
